The Scuttling Ceremonies for ex-Frigate Canterbury

On Saturday, October 13, 2007, the Bay of Islands Canterbury Trust is to scuttle the ex-Frigate, Canterbury Waitaha, in our rohe.

Te Rawhiti Marae is to host the powhiri for the event, the blessing of the sinking, the luncheon and the poroporoaki. The Marae Trust extends an invitation to you all to attend this special event.

The event on Saturday will be preceded by a powhiri on Friday, October 12, 2007, at 1.00pm for whanau hapu of Ngapuhi, Ngati Wai, Ngati Hine, and Ngati Rehia. The manuhiri at this powhiri will be 30 members of the Thirty ex-Malay and Vietnam Army veterans and the official party of the new Malay Embassy attache.

We invite you to this powhiri which will honour our veterans. We will discuss the details of welcoming the dignitaries and manuhiri the following day. Further information will be sent to you should you accept the invitation.
